Profhilo only requires 5 injections on each side of the face or neck.
This differs from other regular skin boosters which require multiple injections. The injections may sting momentarily and in most times it causes only mild discomfort, depending on your pain threshold. Occasionally minimal tenderness for the first 24- 72 hours may occur.

Generally the treatment requires no recovery time. You may find yourself a little red with some swelling at the injection sites which usually subside  within  1-2 days. You can return to your normal  routine activities immediately  after the treatment, other than vigorous exercise for the first 24 hours following the procedure.

Bruising can also occur, and if it does, it can take a week to heal.

For optimal results, it is advised to do 2 sessions at 3-4 week intervals. Results may take more than 3-4 weeks after the last session and they may vary according to the individual due to genetic and environmental factors. You are reminded that this is NOT a “filler” injection for augmentation of the face, so obvious visible changes in facial features will not be seen.

Profhilo®  spreads within the tissue-like honey. This diffusion within the tissue continues for up to 4 weeks after each injection. 

Yes! Profhilo can be safely combined with botulinum toxin injections, energy-based devices, and dermal filers. In fact, it works best, when combined with fillers – the fillers will replace lost volume, while Profhilo finishes the job but restoring youthfulness to the skin.

PROFHILO® is a hyaluronic acid gel, but in a less viscous state to allow the product to spread and distribute in a wider area. Other types of hyaluronic acid gel fillers are thicker (more viscous) and are mainly used to replace volume in specific small areas.

PROFHILO® risks of certain side effects are lesser than the thicker HA fillers, but you still need to be aware of the reported side effects from hyaluronic acid “filler” products.

Early side effects in the treated areas include:

• Pain
• Tenderness
• Redness
• Swelling
• Bruising
• Itching

These side effects usually resolve within 2-3 days, but some symptoms like swelling or bruising can last up to 10-14 days or longer.

Late side effects of HA at the injection sites may appear weeks or even months after the procedure. They include:

• Discoloration of the skin
• Granulomas (accumulation of hardened tissue)
• Delayed allergic reactions

Rarer and more serious complications include 

• Abscesses: Hard and swollen sores that may contain pus which requires surgical drainage and subsequent scarring
• Blocking of blood vessels, which may be permanent, causing necrosis (damage/death of skin), blindness, or stroke

These complications are more relevant when injecting “thicker” HA fillers to localized areas in “bolus” for volume enhancement, especially around the nose and eye areas.

Initially, we recommend two treatments (approximately  4-6 weeks apart), after which you will start to notice significant results.  The second treatment is important to ensure the longevity of the product. The longevity does however vary in individuals. 

Profhilo usually lasts for approximately 6 months. We recommend maintenance appointments at approximately six-monthly intervals. If you choose not to maintain the results with further treatment, your skin will return to its pre-treatment state over time. 

Profhilo® costs $1800 for the two treatments, thereafter $800 for maintenance doses/area.

Your initial visit will consist of consult, consent, and Photos, then the treatment itself which depending on how many areas you get treated will take approximately 30mins. Therefore allow up to an hour and a half for your initial visit and up to 45mins for maintenance visits.
